Choosing The Right Unit Location

Indoor Unit Location
To avoid the risk of drafting never locate the indoor units near areas of seating. For high wall units never place anything beneath them. This will prevent heat getting to floor level. For floor units never place anything in front of them as this prevents heat being dispersed evenly around the room.

Outdoor unit location
When locating the ideal position for the outside unit, sleeping areas, neighbouring properties and a suitable drain point must all be taken into consideration.

Floor Unit or High Wall Unit?
Our philosophy for this is simple. If heating, cooling and price are equally important to you – choose the high wall unit. If heating is your main requirement choose the floor unit.

The Right Models

While we stock a number of different products we believe the Daikin range is the most comprehensive of all brands currently available, and the one best suited to our climatic conditions.

Wall Models
Our wall models range in capacity from 3.5 kW for small areas (e.g. bedrooms) up to the larger 10 kW models for open plan areas and higher ceiling rooms.

These units mount at a high level (generally 2m above floor) on a wall. All feature downward direction louvers, most important in ensuring heat reaches the floor.

Floor Models
Our most popular domestic seller is the floor/wall semi-recessed range. While these are available in 3.5 – 8.2 kW capacity this range is currently being expanded to larger capacity models.

Floor models are generally designed to mount just above the skirting board. On homes being built or renovated they can be semi-recessed into the wall to give the unit a “built in” appearance. With a low-level outlet grille these units are excellent for heating and, unlike the high wall range, require no assistance to reach the filter for cleaning.

Ducted Models
This range is growing in popularity. Once you have experienced a ducted in-built system you won’t want to consider anything else for your heating and cooling comfort. Indoor units can be concealed in the ceiling cavity, bulkheads or garage, while supply and return air ducts can be concealed in walls, ceilings, bookcases or built into furniture with inlet and outlet grilles on the face.

The capacity for these models starts at 5 kW and goes up to 18 kW- and are the ultimate in quite, discrete heating and cooling.

Multi Units
These units allow for the use of a combination of indoor units (floor, wall, ducted) coupled to a common outdoor unit with capacities starting at 10 kW and going up to 18 kW. The big advantage of multi units is separate temperature control can be achieved at each indoor unit, allowing efficient zone control.

There is always new climate control technology arriving at Hartnell Coolheat. If you have any questions about the range of residential models available please contact our sales division.
